Substance Use Disorders

It is estimated that over 25 million individuals live with some form of a substance use disorder caused by the excessive or ongoing use of drugs or alcohol. Just like any disease, a substance use disorder can negatively impact physical and mental health, relationships and job responsibilities.

The good news is these disorders can be treated. At network180, we can connect individuals to services for a substance use disorder. See below for more information.

Prevention Services

Substance abuse prevention is any organized program or targeted strategy that enhances individuals’ and/or communities’ ability to avoid or reduce the use or abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, even if substance abuse prevention is not its primary goal. Prevention services are designed to target populations within the four prevention domains that provide a framework for categorizing environmental conditions and individual risks that influence substance use behaviors among youth and adults. The four domains are: community/social, family, school/workplace, and individual/peer. The services within each domain promote individual, family and community health, and support resilience, leading to the reduction in the progression of substance misuse and abuse. The services similarly work to instill positive pro-social messages in three areas that influence the social environment that affect the individual, family, and community. These influences are economic, media, political, and social. For more information about prevention services in Kent County, please visit www.talksooner.org
